Begin your mental training by attempting a 28-day meditation and mindfulness practice using Sharon Salzberg’s book Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation. This book will help you learn the basics of posture, breath, scheduling, and blocking out distractions. Salzberg’s book provides information about how to meditate and also an introduction to the science behind why meditation works.

Alternate Level One Task

Begin your mental training by attempting a 28-day mediation and mindfulness practice using the Calm app (available for both Apple iOS and Android). Learn the basics of mindfulness meditation by first completing the “7 Days of Calm” sequence of 10-minute guided meditations. Then continue with the “21 Days of Calm” sequence to bring you through a full 28 days of practice. A companion book “Calm the Mind, Change the World” is also available for added guidance.
